Proof! Nintendo Revolution Controller is Tiring Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The discussion if the new Nintendo Revolution controller is any good is running hot. Nintendo Revolution Controller - Any Good?

Topic: Gaming

Nintendo Revolution Controller - Any Good? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review When Nintendo announced the Revolution Controller, I wrote "I applaud Nintendo to try something new". Now having had more time to think about the new Nintendo Controller, I have mixed feelings about it.

BBC News ran a reader survey asking if the Nintendo Revolution Controller is a hit or miss. About 13,000 readers voted and half the people think it's a miss and the other half says it's a hit. This is an interesting result. The controller is definitely controversial and Nintendo will have a lot of convincing to-do.
I do not necessarily think the new controller concept is a miss, but I think it might maneuver Nintendo in a small niche (Update 09/18/06, Shells might be the solution see below).
3D motion controlling with a wand style device like the Nintendo Remote Control style device is nothing new.
Virtual Reality applications used them since years. The problem with those input devices is fatigue. Just imagine holding your hand out and move it up and down and left and right for 1 hour. Read more

Nintendo breaks with more than 20 years of video game history by abandoning the traditional controller held with two hands and introducing an all-new freehand-style unit held with one hand.

"The feeling is so natural and real, as soon as players use the controller, their minds will spin with the possibilities of how this will change gaming as we know it today," explains Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president.

Labrador Retriever is Americas Favorite Nintendog?

Topic: Gaming

Labrador Retriever is Americas Favorite Nintendog Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Based on the Amazon.com video game sales ranking the Labrador Retriever Nintendogs Nintendo DS game is the most favorite of the currently available Nintendogs versions in the United States.

The Labrador Retriever is closely followed by the Dachshund. Surprisingly far behind is the Chihuahua. Paris Hilton and Tinkerbell might not be happy about it. Maybe Paris is going to be a couple thousand games to bring the Chihuahua Nintendogs to the top spot.

It is anyway just about the game cover, as gamers can choose a breed at the beginning of the game.

The appeal of Nintendogs is beyond my comprehension, but that is ok. Read more

Are You Sick of Using Video Tapes in Camcorders?

JVC offers a line of Video Cameras that use Hard-drives instead of Video Tapes. JVC is still the only company that has Video Cameras on the market that use hard-drives to store DVD quality video. It is in my mind a very obvious solution in a complete digital environment that we are in now.
Nobody is questioning that we stopped use film in digital cameras. So why do still most video cameras on the market use tape? Sure the data volume is much higher for video, memory sticks or SD cards offer to little space to record hours of high quality videos. Now that portable hard-drives are used to store your complete music library it is of course also possible to record hours of high quality video on them.
Right now JVC offers three models with a 4GB hard-drive: The GZ-MC100 ($899.99), The GZ-MC200 ($998.94) and the new high-end GZ-MC-500 ($1,599.95). If you need more storage, JVC will start ship end of August the JVC Everio G-Series camcorders that boast 20 and 30GB hard-drives. That means up to 37 hours of video recording on the 30GB models and up to 25 hours on the 20GB model - Tape just died, as film did. Amazon.com opened pre-order on the new JVC Everio G-Series camcorders. You can get the GZ-MG20 for $799.95, the GZ-MG40 for $899.99 and the GZ-MG50 for $999.99.
